3.1.2 - Jailbreak iPhone or iPod Touch Any Generation - 3.1.2 BlackRa1n

Before you begin:

*To restore your device with 3.1.2 open iTunes, hold shift + click restore, (For Mac users I believe you hold options and click restore)search for the 3.1.2 firmware you downloaded and open it, your device will now restore to 3.1.2.

Step 1:

Run BlackRa1n, Connect iPhone or iPod Touch and click "Make it Rain".

Step 2:

BlackRa1n will tell you that the device is booting into Recovery Mode. Check the device's screen and it should turn off and then show an iTunes logo with cable, indicating it is in Recovery Mode.
* It may turn White.

Step 3:

A few seconds later, you will get an image of GeoHot on your device's screen. The Blackra1n program on your Mac / PC will tell you jailbreak successfully, click 'OK'. Now it will tell you to wait, till the device reboots. You can now close the program.

Step 4:
After the device reboots, make sure you have an active internet connection on it.

Step 5:
Navigate to the last page of the device’s springboard and open the blackra1n app.

Step 6:
Now select Cydia, and tap on ‘install’ button in the navigation bar. It will now download the desired application and then re-spring (refresh). Only install one at a time!

Step 7:
After the device re-springs, you will have the selected application(s) installed. Congratulations! You’re now successfully jailbroken.

Step 8:
This is only for iPod Touch 3rd Generation; the jailbreak is tethered, meaning you will need to run the BlackRa1n application again to boot it. Every time your device shuts down or is restarted you will need to connect to your computer and click “Make it Rain”.

  3. The current iOS 6 GM, the last beta before release, is already jailbroken for developers on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the iPod Touch, but it is far from complete.
There is also no status update on the iOS 6 iPhone 4S jailbreak, so users of the iPhone 4 may be in for an even longer wait.
